FAIRshare works in partnership with schools in Shropshire to help young people get into the ‘savings habit’ and learn money management skills.

Apley Wood Primary School launched their School Saver Club in December 2016 in partnership with FAIRshare.

The School Saver Club is open to all Year 4, 5 & 6 children attending Apley Wood Primary School.  Membership is free, and children can deposit as little or as much as they wish.  Collections are held weekly at 9am on a Wednesday morning.

The Club is run by pupils from Year 6, under the supervision of Mrs Finan and Mrs Marshall.   Children ‘applied’ for positions, and after appointments were announced, were awarded certificates & name badges.  The children enjoy training, including transaction processing, cash handling and member services, before their first live Collection.  FAIRshare provides ongoing support.

The Deposit Envelopes used this year were designed by Millie Hatton, the winner of our envelope design competition.

The Managers are responsible for reconciling the money after each Collection.  The I.T. Officers transfer transactions from the Collection Sheets to a spreadsheet, which is emailed to FAIRshare.

Watch our Savings grow

After much brain storming and a vote, the children decided on a Beach for this year’s Saver Chart.  Each time a member makes a deposit at the School Saver Club they add ‘sand‘ to the saver beach!  After saving 5 times, they add a ‘shell‘, then a ‘fish’, a ‘crab‘ and a ‘seagull‘ for 20 times!  The Beach is looking fantastic!

The Marketing Officers help promote the School Saver Club, and wrote this great article for their school Newsletter.  In March 2 great articles featured in the school Newsletter – members had collectively saved over £1000 and Tulsi added the first ‘seagull’ to the Beach saver chart!  Click here to find out more.  We love to hear how well the children are doing!

Its lovely to see children saving, and each term members saving at the last collection enjoy an edible ‘treat’!

The School Saver Club is open to all Year 4, 5 & 6 children attending Apley Wood Primary School.  To join please complete an application form and return it to Apley Wood Primary School – application forms are available from school or can be downloaded from the link below.  There is no cost to join and pupils can join the School Saver Club at any time.

The School Saver Club Officers run the School Saver Club in a professional, efficient & friendly manner & are a credit to their school & the wider community.  It’s always a pleasure working with them.
