Proposed “Cost of living Crisis” Fair – Telford and Wrekin Community
Posted on Mar 16, 2023
As the person responsible for Business Development at FAIRshare, alongside driving new membership, in my new role I wanted to have a very real impact on the local community, to demonstrate that, as a not for profit organisation that is owned by and operated for the local populous, we care about Telford and its residents.
The current cost of living crisis has driven many to utilising such services as warms spaces, food banks and vouchers and look further afield for help. Many don’t know where to turn for advice and support and my thought was that if we could provide a “fair”, giving access to local services and business offering a way to ease these difficulties, all in one space, then it could be of massive benefit.
As FAIRshare’s common bond stretches across the whole of Shropshire and South Staffordshire, the idea was to organise a similar event in these regions on the back of the anticipated success of this event.
We want to provide a platform for those trying to make things just a little easier for others, for them to have the voice and the presence they deserve. We are encouraging attendance from the Citizens Advice Bureau, representatives from DWP, recruitment companies, and simply anyone who can help connect Telford residents to the help they so desperately need.
We need some positivity, a boost, a chance to highlight the wonderful things that local people are doing for local people. As a community bank, collaboration is key. But this idea can only work with your help, your backing and your encouragement. The team and I are prepared to put in the hard work to make it happen, but we need you!
If you are a business owner, provide a service that you would like people to know about or even wish to support the event in some way – please get in touch today! You can find links to our social media here or email us.
Together we can – let’s talk!
