Fun in Schools with School Saver Clubs
Posted on Jul 01, 2015The FAIRshare team have been visiting a number of local primary schools this week to talk about new School Saver Clubs which will be starting in September. The children were so enthusiastic and we are really looking forward to working with them!
FAIRshare’s School Saver Clubs are a great way to teach children to save and to learn to manage their pocket money. The younger you are when you start saving, the better prepared you will be for the future.
The children discussed saving some of their pocket money, and thought about how they could save up to buy something they have always wanted, but didn’t think they could afford. Saving money is a great way to prepare children for the future, to help others, and buy the things you’ve always dreamed of.
Buy 1 less 5p chew or lollipop each week, and saving the money instead, and you will have saved £2.60 in a year!
There are more than 57,000 credit unions around the world and many run School Saver Clubs in schools. The children enjoyed hearing about school saving clubs and projects run in partnership with credit unions in the USA, the Philippines, Australia, Rwanda & Scotland.
The year 6 children will be running the clubs, and will be applying for different positions over the coming weeks. We have also launched poster competitions in each school, and are really looking forward to seeing the wonderful designs.
